Sunday 20 Nov 2016 is #rfr2016

20151122_122350Save the date folks. Sunday 20th November 2016 will be the next run-forest-run. We’ve listened, so this year the obstacle course will be redesigned so that there is no disadvantage to being under 5ft 8 inches tall. We’re going to introduce an extra slippery slope that is super slippery and if we can get the design right, the new “Badger’s Passage” will be a photo opportunity for all the spectators in the woods.

Entries will open in March, so subscribe to the newsletter or like the Facebook page or follow us on Twitter to reserve your place.

Have a great Obstacle Race season my friends and don’t forget to buy the next couple of issues Runners World to read the amazing story of blind runner Louise Simpson featured in this post.

rfr-eccy-t-shirtThe start list is now on the website. The T shirts have arrived (thank you Eccy for modelling them). The weather forecast is fine and cold so don’t forget to bring warm clothing. We shouldn’t have a problem with ice, but stay safe on the paths just in case. Thank you to all the runners and volunteers and we’ll see you on Sunday!

3 weeks to go until #rfr2015

Course ready, T shirts ready, Marshals ready, Cakes and Bacon Butties planned and the emails with race information due to go out in the next few days.

If you haven’t entered yet, then I urge you to do so before the 2 week limit to ensure that we have a T shirt with your size! If you would like to be a marshal and get a free entry for 2016, then please look at the Marshal Page and let us know. The more marshals, the better the event and we thank you all. Marshals will of course get a bacon butty, cake and T shirt.

3 months to go…

With only 3 months to go until the second run-forest-run.co.uk we thought that we should give you a little update on how the woodland is progressing thanks to the great support from last year’s runners.

The 2014 edition was a great success and generated a lot of interest in the woodland. Drivelink training has been holding many training courses in the woodland and you’ll see that there is a lot more light and space as you enter the woods in 2015. We’ve also been busy building a new road across the flooded bog area at the exit from the woods. This means that your times will be at least 10 seconds faster this year!

There are a few photos of the year below. Online entries are open and we’re looking for marshals. If you are a marshal on the day, then you get free entry in 2016. If you were a marshal last year and want to enter then please use your discount code. If you can find it then contact us via the website.

This year’s race looks like it will be bigger and better than last year’s so get training, find some mates to join you, challenge a friendly team and we’ll see you in November!

2014 results

Every runner should be proud of their outstanding performance today. Really tough conditions. The water level rose nearly 12 inches during the race. Thanks to the awesome marshals and St. John’s ambulance crew for keeping everyone safe and happy.
